The Council comprises 9 honorary councillors who are
unpaid volunteers. The Council employs a part-time Clerk
and contracts-in a Financial Assistant. We manage and
fund a range of activities including maintenance of
Council-owned common land and the playgrounds; management
of the allotments; litter picking; and the inspection
and maintenance of trees.
We also review and comment on all planning applications;
coordinate with Surrey and Waverley Councils on issues
that affect the parish and help deal with local issues
raised by parishioners.
Currently, special projects that we are supporting
include restoration of Gerald’s Wood; the Blackheath
traffic calming project; completion of a village design
statement; relocation of a bus shelter at Wonersh and
the restoration of a Shamley Green pond.
We have also helped to fund the Shamley Green traffic
slowdown project; the environmental area at Shamley
Green and Wonersh 1st School; the Surrey Heathlands
project; the Hoppa Bus; FLY (For Local Youth) and the
parish magazines.
You are welcome to call any of your Parish Councillors
if you have any local issue you would like to discuss,
their contact details can be found on the 'Your
Councillor' page. You may also meet the Parish Clerk
every Thursday between 1.30 pm and 4.30 pm in the Parish
Council office (in the Wonersh Sports Pavilion). The
public are invited to attend Parish Council meetings
which are also held in Wonersh Sports Pavilion, details
of meeting dates and minutes of the previous meeting
can be found on the 'Council
Meetings' page. At the start of each meeting there
is an open session for members of the public to raise
issues with the Parish Council.
